Presentamos ‘Shiver’: el árbol escalofriante que refleja el alma de la humanidad

A primera vista, Corymbia opaca es muy similar a muchas otras plantas, pero sólo cuando son “heridas” por un determinado corte son realmente diferentes. Porque en esta planta aparecerán vetas líquidas de color rojo oscuro como sangre que parecen muy aterradoras.

Aunque parecen similares a otros tipos en la superficie, cortar una línea en el tronco hace que fluyan vetas de líquido carmesí oscuro. La “sangre” de esta planta de sangre del desierto no es líquida como el agua, sino espesa y pegajosa como el pegamento. Fluyen en arroyos y luego se secan rápidamente, adhiriéndose al tronco.

Corymbia opaca no sólo destaca por su extraña “sangre”, sino que también es conocida por sus maravillosos usos. Según estudios, los aborígenes australianos recolectan con frecuencia la savia de los árboles (que contiene una cantidad importante de tanino, una sustancia química frecuentemente utilizada en medicina) para elaborar medicamentos destinados a curar diversas enfermedades, incluidos los resfriados. Aunque no es perjudicial para los humanos, la vista de esta savia debe haber hecho estremecer a muchas personas.
